
The 37th YWCA National Council from 23 – 25 June 2009 at Gyeongju, Korea was held with the 800 representative members from 55 local YWCAs. YWCA of Korea elected the new officers and Board members for the next 2 years. Ms. Kyocha Kang was elected as a President, Ms. Kyung Ai Cha and Ms. Hee Woon Synn were elected as Vice Presidents and 27 board members were elected.
Korea YWCA re-adopted “Women, Wind of Life, Revivier of the world” as a theme. Priorities for the next two years all the members will commit to action were adopted as well. ⅰ) Creating community where women’s rights are reserved ⅱ) Making education environment that revives children and youth ⅲ) Creating Community that revives earth and life
Small group discussion sessions gave the members the opportunity to explore the vision of Korea YWCA toward the 100th year and make a commitment to action. Young women’s workshop held at first and second nights to enhance their leadership and solidarity in the YWCA movement.
World YWCA General Secretary Ms. Nyaradzayi Gumbonsvanda celebrated the 37th National Council of Korea YWCA. Through the congratulatory speech, she congratulated the leadership of Korea YWCA and achievement throughout history and stressed the solidarity with the World YWCA and YWCA movement. Ms. Ritsuko Mibae, vice president of Japan YWCA attended the council and congratulated the attended members.
