The 13th YWCA’s Good TV Program Award ceremony was held in the YWCA hall on 24th April.
First awarded in 1996, the Award has been aiming to celebrate and encourage the TV program producers who try to make the program based on the value and dignity of life toward the healthy community for all of us. Korea YWCA has been trying to give a challenge to the TV program makers and provide the guidance for choosing good TV Program to the public audience.
The category of Award is environment, peace and women. This year, grand prix is awarded to ‘Homo Oilicus’ from Korea Broad Casting of Daejeon. This program explores the present picture of human mankind, wholly depend their every life on the petroleum and petroleum product. Especially, examination committees recognize that this program contribute to raise public awareness on the matter of petroleum consumption and successfully draw attention to the sustainable environment management.
Winners of the women’s category are ‘Angry Mom’, KBS’s drama, ‘Please bring back my baby’, MBC’s documentary, and ‘I am sorry for your mom; single mom’s story’, Channel-Donga’s documentary. Winner of environment category is ‘human manure saves land’, SBS’s documentary. Winner of peace category is ‘city restoration’, OBS’s documentary. Special award was given to the SBS’s ‘children who leaves daddy’s land’.
The president of YWCA of Korea, Kyocha Kang said, ‘Many of the candidate programs for the YWCA’s Good TV Program Award this year deals with the marriage-migrant women and environment issues, correspond with the YWCA movement priorities. I am really pleased because the spirit of YWCA movement could be transferred to the public through the TV programs deal with the issues of women, environment and peace. We appreciate all the TV program makers who strive to make good TV program in spite of today’s competitive and commercialism-driven broadcasting environment’
“YWCA’s Good Television Program Award’ gains credibility and popularity year by year. Korea YWCA will continue to find the TV programs to place value on the humanity, peace and respect for the life.
