On the April 14th, the National YWCA of Korea held a signing ceremony with Citibank Korea at the Page Myeongdong Building in Jung-gu, Seoul. During the event, the Citibank Foundation pledged a sponsorship of approximately 300 million KRW.
Since 2006, the National YWCA of Korea has collaborated with Citibank Korea to operate the financial education program ‘Think Money’. Through this program, they aim to support young people in cultivating proper financial values and becoming financially responsible citizens who engage in wise economic activities.
Celebrating its 17th year, the Think Money program has provided tailored financial education to over 580,000 teenagers over the past 16 years, adapting to the changing financial landscape. Since 2017, the program has operated two permanent financial education spaces called ‘PUBFIN’ (Public Financial Education Station), allowing students to actively participate and understand finance on their own. Since 2020, the program has also engaged participating students in the ‘Future Financial City’ initiative, encouraging them to explore various local community issues and solutions. Additionally, this year, there are plans to upgrade the existing curriculum to a virtual version and launch a new financial empowerment program for single-parent families.
During the agreement ceremony, Won Young-hee, the President of the National YWCA of Korea, stated, “Beyond the role of fostering rational financial consumers, the Think Money program will strive to become a sustainable program that adapts to the changing times, taking on the mission of finance missionaries. To do this, we will actively devote ourselves to the curriculum of each Think Money classroom, ensuring its quality.”
