The National YWCA of Korea “Heungcheongmangcheong” – Hosting ‘100 Projects to Save the World’ Competition 2022.04.11

In celebration of its 100th anniversary, the National YWCA of Korea is organizing a project competition for young people. On April 20th of this year, YWCA will select various projects aimed at revitalizing the world under the themes of justice, peace, and life. The target age group includes all the young from 14 to 35.

Like the project name, the “Heungcheongmangcheong” project aims to support the young people to thrive, helping them achieve the world they aspire for. Some examples of the project outcomes can include cultural contents such as essays, posters, videos, songs, games, as well as activities that bring positive energy to our society and practical initiatives to assist the local community.

Applications will be accepted from this month until the 6th of next month, and after the review process, the final selected teams will be announced on May 27th. The selected teams will receive up to 10 million KRW in funding along with various special benefits, including mentoring and connections to follow-up projects.

A representative from YWCA stated that “to mark the 100th anniversary of the National YWCA of Korea, we are looking forward to positive projects that solve various problems prevalent in society from the perspective of young people” and “we hope to actively contribute to creating a more livable world without discrimination, violence, exclusion, and inequality, striving to improve the lives of all social minorities.”

The National YWCA of Korea consists of 52 regions nationwide, collectively engaging in the climate crisis response, gender equality, peace, and the young poeple movements. This year, both Gwangju YWCA and Seoul YWCA are also celebrating their centenaries.
