Celebrating the 100th anniversary of YWCA Korea, we send you the second story of the new YWCA’s voyage.

YWCA Korea carried out on-site campaigns to overcome the difficulties faced by women. Nationally, we modified the structure of the organization, and internationally, we worked hard to prepare the organization and arrange programs to be approved as a full member of the World YWCA. With the assistance of the World YWCA, we continued welfare activities for women and orphans while conducting rescue activities for refugees and children displaced by the war.
The core activities of the YWCA Korea were carried out by the Student YWCA. The activities of the Student YWCA, which started with restoration and reconstruction, have established themselves as channels for fostering women’s leadership as Korean Christian female leaders were trained. Through these activities, YWCA Korea set discrimination against women and women’s rights as priorities and began a campaign to enact the New Civil Act and this led to youth movements and the revision of the Family Act. We revitalized local activities and became the basis of the women’s movement in the 1970s.
Vision Establishment Keyword – W (Women)

The W(women) movement has been putting women as subjects and working to improve women’s rights for the last 100 years. We want to open a new century by redefining the W(women) movement to ‘women leadership, gender equality, elimination of discrimination, and diversity. We wish to be free from stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination. We support each other, stand by each other, and fulfill our social responsibility. We go against discrimination and exclusion, raise questions and find alternative solutions. The world that W dreams of in the new century is a world where diversity is valued and alienation and conflicts are broken to make a gender-equal, coexisting society in which mutual understanding across generations and regions exists.
100 Projects that will Save the World

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of YWCA Korea, we are conducting a youth support project, a sponsorship project to commemorate the 100th anniversary of YWCA Korea. Under the motto, “YWCA, A new century towards Youth and Regions,” it supports public activities of organizations and individual young adults who are working to solve climate change and problems in their communities. Through this, we hope young adults will contemplate justice on their own, pursue peace, and practice the value of life in their daily lives. YWCA Korea will be with the lives of young adults.
