Started by a few women in London in 1855, Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) is an international women’s organization which actively carries out social movement based on Christian faith. In 1922, independent Korean women inspired by YWCA spirit founded YWCA Korea to contribute to the nation and the people. They committed themselves with strong responsibility and the sense of duty to help the underprivileged and release women from old restrictions by awakening. These were directly connected to restoring national sovereignty and spreading the gospel of Christ.
Having the enhancement of the people’s capability and enlightenment of women as the major tasks, YWCA Korea worked for the nation’s independence from the Japanese occupation and women’s liberation. Having lived in the pain of the era and the history, the YWCA Korea has carried out the ministry of the gospel, being the light and salt for all eras.
In 2022, YWCA Korea plans to advocate for the weak and create a social environment for everyone to live an equal and happy life. We will make another leap toward the longest, largest, and most representative women organization of Korea by working together with many people for the need where necessary. We will build the Kingdom of God for the people who will coexist together with us.

The 100thAnniversary of the Foundation Day YWCA Korea on April 20
On April 20, 2022, we will be celebrating the 100thyear of YWCA Korea.
The celebration will be broadcasted online through YouTube.
Let us praise and show our gratitude to the Lord who has led YWCA Korea for the 100 years since its foundation. We will also have a declaration ceremony of the vision for the new future by reflecting on the past. The celebration will be held in the order of 1) Commemoration service 2) Ceremony 3) Special lecture.
