The YWCA Korea held a commemorative event for the 100th anniversary. The event included the opening ceremony of a photo exhibition and a publication celebration for the photo book titled “Towards Change, We Carry the Torchlight,” which was released in honor of the centennial milestone. The event took place at the Seoul Metro Art Museum on July 13th, with the participation of around 50 attendees gathered to celebrate, including President Young-hee Won, Cha Kyung-ae, the former president and the supervisor of the photo book, Dr. Son Seung-ho, sponsoring companies, and citizens.

The photo exhibition showcased selected images from the photo book, highlighting the dedicated activities of women activists who have worked tirelessly for justice, peace, and the sanctity of life. The exhibition space was organized into sections representing a condensed timeline, themes of Y(Young) and W(Women), a media art space, and a photo zone. Throughout the installation process, citizens showed interest in the displayed photos, and the participatory photo zone allowed many to experience being an early National YWCA of Korea activist.
The photo exhibition will be held continuously from July 13th at 5:00 PM to the morning of the 26th. A SNS event will be held, where attendees of the exhibition can introduce the exhibition and write reviews, and a total of 50 people will be given the photo book as a gift.
Additionally, on the 13th, with the publication commemoration and the opening of the photo exhibition, the e-photobook was released online on the YWCA Korea website and YWCA Archive website. Through the 100th anniversary photo exhibition and the digital photobook, the general public will have the opportunity to vividly see and feel the meaningful activities undertaken by women in the 100-year history of the National YWCA of Korea through photographs.
